AUSTIN TRINKLE

Founder, Sports & Scholars

Tutor/Coach, Consultant

B.S. ENGINEERING/ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN, STANFORD '14

Austin grew up in Seal Beach where he attended Los Alamitos High School. There he was the captain of the water polo and swims teams. He was recruited to play water polo at Stanford which he did concurrent to pursuing a degree in Engineering with a specialization in Architectural Design.

While at Stanford, Austin founded Sports & Scholars, a tutoring company for all students, specializing in support for student-athletes. As a student-athlete himself, Austin understands full well the challenges of excelling in your athletics and academics. Sports & Scholars was founded on the concept of the mind-body connection.

We believe that academics and athletics are not mutually exclusive, each existing in their own sphere. Our philosophy is that students that have learned to excel in one have the potential to do great things in both. By using key aspects of both schoolwork and sports, our students focus more on the content and ideas behind disciplines and are able to master them more easily. By cultivating a growth mindset in all of our students, our tutors seek to help them enjoy learning and understand subjects on a deeper level, which has long-term benefits throughout students’ educational careers.

Austin credits his success to organization and time management. Those are topics that he enjoys teaching to keen students. Austin is available for consulting in areas of water polo recruiting, resume writing, time management, organization, goal setting, swim speed, strength and conditioning.
